“Today everyone’s bored with the same old hair styles. Shaving, Growing, Gelling – people have tried all sorts of strange things to their hair.So its not surprising that a few people want to stand out and celebrate their unique style through the way they cut their hair. My buddy Dev from Wynberg has been doing his hair in some seriously crazy styles for a while now and I just think is awesome because its his trademark…its different. It is definitely influenced by African-American Hip Hop culture of the early 80′s and 90′s , many people do it today still. It is however a rare sight in Cape Town these days – and thats why it caught my eye. Its costs him R50 for the barber to “sculpt” a design into his hair and takes about 30mins. He goes to the barber near Wynberg station. Pretty cool I’d say….at least it grows back. Its definitely a conversation piece!”
