Facebook Oxygen: Is facebook driving sales for airtime?
It’s no wonder cellular networks are partnering with social media platforms these days. Here’s a quick glimpse into the kind of reports we continue to get from township youth across the country:
“I see my tribe spending more and more money on airtime because they want to log on to Facebook on their mobile. Yo! Spending airtime is heavily influenced by Facebook amongst my freinds. Ofcourse… modern phones are web enabled, so you just buy airtime… log in, all of a sudden the world is tiny. Airtime is bought so much, its in every youngsta’s budget who has cellphone, and it has become the oxygen of the youth ekasi, in their everyday lives, you just have to have it for facebook.”

I agree most of the time I will buy air time just for logging on to social sites than call people. I do think however, Vodacom should try to and make the cost of logging on to these social networks cheaper like MTN and Cell C(mixit is for FREE). They must adapt
Not to forget that it’s a big bussiness buzzing out on this, it’s impressive and undoubtedly kids are spending much airtime to get surfing, having their dialogue discussions with friends allover the world is the main thing they’re after. There’s hell lot that happens on the site, strangers have become lovers, some hooked up with new bussines partners, some Dirty Joe got seven girls writing nuts on his file and the guy commited sucide after all.
It’s a Facebook whackiiii world indeed, a place for funny, dating, deeds, even adventures and the rest-you can name it if u’re a user.
